美和野らぐMiwano Rag, is an Janpanese illustrator who knows exactly how to play with color.

With a background in animation, she has a special talent for catching "the perfect moment." In her paintings, the colors look like gemstones washed in clean water—clear, soft, and glowing. When you look at her work, it feels so real that you almost expect the characters to move or breathe.

Since her first art book was published by KADOKAWA in 2022, she has quickly become one of Japan’s top illustrators, being selected for the famous "Eshi 100" exhibition for three years in a row.

This collection features the latest works from Miwano Rag’s "Battle Girls" series. Originally created for the 2024 Summer Comic Market, these illustrations were designed around the theme of "Japanese-style Playing Cards," corresponding to the Jack of Spades, Jack of Diamonds, and Queen of Diamonds.

To bring this series to life, we used aluminum as the printing base. This creates a unique visual effect that blends a cool metallic texture with a fantastical atmosphere. 

 The knight in these works is a girl who commands the power of water.Her dignified spirit and hidden strength are further amplified by the natural luster of the metal. Even the iconic "sparkle" in the character's eyes—a signature of Miwano Rag’s style—appears sharper and more beautiful in this format.

To enhance the sense of movement, a textured White Base was added to the highlights. This creates a subtle physical texture on the surface, allowing light to shift across the artwork and heightening the tension of the character’s pose.

We also applied a gloss finish to specific areas to capture the flowing, transparent nature of water, giving the image a three-dimensional impact that feels as if it’s jumping off the surface.

These pieces perfectly balance the "heroic" presence of a warrior with the soft, fleeting beauty symbolized by the lilies in the frame.
